Empowering Hands, Inspiring Minds!

The EtD-FaM project is dedicated to develop five makerspaces at UAS in
Ethiopia and one at the University of Djibouti focusing on female lecturers
and students to enable them to improve their practical skills
A Training-of-Trainer (ToT) session will educate certified trainer in the
design, establishment and managing of makerspaces.
At the end of the project, it is intended to set up the Horn Makerspace
Institute (HMI) as an umbrella institute for the EtD-FaM

The EtD-FaM project is dedicated to develop five makerspaces at UAS in
Ethiopia and one at the University of Djibouti focusing on female lecturers
and students to enable them to improve their practical skills
A Training-of-Trainer (ToT) session will educate certified trainer in the

At the end of the project, it is intended to set up the Horn Makerspace
Institute (HMI) as an umbrella institute for the EtD-FaM

The EtD-FaM Project intends to orchestrate the Ethiopian/Djibouti EtD-FaM-Project Partners’ needs with the European universities’ support to develop 6 makerspaces in the field of civil engineering, agriculture, business & economics, manufacturing, veterinary medicine and general engineering with the idea to become an example for all study programmes in Ethiopia, Djibouti and beyond.
The overall objectives of the EtD-FaM-Project are:
– Contributing to the Ethiopian and Djibouti government efforts in realising the gender equality at
HE level and industries
The specific EtD-FaM objectives are:
– Strengthening practical skills of female staff, students and graduates through to hands-on training
– Improving the quality of engineering and business education for female students through the specific makerspaces for females only
– Improve females’ creativity in experimenting and innovation
– Providing female staff, students and graduates a company-like environment for testing their practical skills
